If your intimate images, whether authentic photos or AI-generated deepfakes, have been uploaded to Erome without your consent, you have the right to request their immediate removal. Fortunately, Erome generally complies with valid DMCA and privacy takedown requests.
If you have encountered explicit content depicting an underage individual, immediately file a report with authorities through FBI tips, Cybertips, or TakeItDown.
1. Gather Evidence
Before reaching out, document the location of the content. You will need:
- Direct URLs: The specific links to the posts or galleries containing the images.
- Screenshots: Keep these for your own records/legal evidence, but do not include them in your initial email unless specifically asked, to avoid further distribution of the NCSEI material.
- Authorized Representative: Unfortunately, the identities of NCSEI survivors are frequently targeted. It may be in your best interest to find a trusted individual who can represent you when reporting your case.
2. Email a Removal Request
Erome processes removals primarily through email.
Contact Email: contact@erome.com
Subject: Request for Removal of Non-Consensual Shared Explicit Imagery (NCSEI) Content
Required Statements: Your email should include the following legal language to ensure compliance with legal standards.
- A statement that the images depict you or an individual that you are authorized to represent.
- Statement of good faith:
- “I hereby state that I have a good faith belief that the disputed use of the material is not authorized by the individual depicted, its agent, or the law (e.g., as a fair use).”
- Accuracy statement:
- “I hereby state that the information in this notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that I am the person, or authorized to act on behalf of, the individual depicted.”
- The specific URLs that need to be removed.
- Provide the name that is representing you and your electronic signature.
It may take several notification attempts before content is removed. Be prepared to send follow-up emails if you do not receive a response within 48–72 hours.
Note: Watch out for Erome “knock-off” sites that collect the personal information of individuals seeking to remove their images from Erome. If doing research on Erome, make sure the website contains the official Erome URL, erome[.]com.
3. Post-Incident Activity
It may be in your best interest to report your images to Stop-NCII.org. This platform uses hashing (fingerprinting) technology and leverages industry partnerships to proactively stop NCSEI images from being shared on major platforms with large tech platforms, including Meta, Google, TikTok, Reddit, Snapchat, X (Twitter), and more.
If the NCSEI being reported contains a face, consider using facial recognition search engines such as PimEyes, Lenso.ai, and FaceCheck.ID to scan for reposts on other websites.
If the NCSEI content is being indexed on search engines such as Google, Bing, or Yandex, you may want to submit a request to deindex this content.
NCSEI is a criminal offense in many jurisdictions. It may be in your best interest to file a police report using the evidence you gathered in Step 1.
